Description

Gary and I first had this at Warm Springs.  After that I had to find a recipe for it!

Ingredients

2 c
flour
1 t
salt
2 t
baking powder
1 c
water

Oil (for frying)

Instructions

In a medium bowl, combine flour, salt and baking powder; make a well in the center and add 1 cup water. Mix until it forms a soft dough; a little more water may be needed. Knead the dough on a lightly floured board until smooth and firm. The dough will remain soft. Cover and let rest for 10 minutes.
Pinch off pieces of dough about the size of an egg. Evenly flatten each piece to about 5 inches in diameter.
In a heavy skillet, heat 1-1/2 inches of oil to about 350 degrees. Fry 2 or 3 pieces of dough at a time until golden brown, about 5 to 7 minutes, turning them once. Drain on paper towels and keep warm in a very low oven. Repeat until all dough pieces are cooked.
